We are nearly to the apex of our Christmas cookie adventure! I find my new favorite way to make these vintage treats, while expressing holiday anguish with off-key screeching. One more cookie left to crumble!
Recipe: Spritz
Ingredients:
1 cup of butter (unsalted)
2/3 cup of granulated sugar
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/2 cups of flour
Food coloring (optional)
Steps:
1. Beat butter and sugar well.
2. Add sugar and beat on high.
3. Add eggs (scraping the bowl as you mix).
4. Add almond extract.
5. Gradually add your flour.
6. Tint with food coloring (optional)
7. Tightly pack dough in an airtight container and refrigerate for a minimum of two hours.
8. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness on a heavily floured surface.
9. Cut out shapes using a moon cake press, or the traditional dough gun, you could even roll them into balls if you would like to keep things easy.
10. Bake at 400°F (204°c) for 7-10 minutes or until edges start turning light golden brown.
11. Enjoy!
