Thin and crispy sugar cookies with more than one secret ingredient! But beware... they are prone to burning hehehe
Recipe: Simple Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup (227 grams) butter
1 ½ cups sugar (301 grams)
2 eggs (100 grams)
2 tablespoons (27 grams) sour cream
3 ½ cups (438 grams) flour
1 teaspoon (3 grams) baking soda
¼ teaspoon (a pinch) nutmeg
Steps:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350° F (176° C)
2. Cream the butter on medium speed.
3. Add sugar, scraping sides of the bowl as you go.
4. Add eggs (one at a time).
5. Add baking soda.
6. Add nutmeg.
7. Add sour cream, scraping edges to ensure complete mix
8. Add flour one cup at a time until fully incorporated.
9. Move dough from bowl and onto wax paper or plastic wrap. Wrap tightly, place in an airtight box, and refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour.
10. Once the dough is chilled, roll it out on a well-floured surface to desired thickness. (I prefer thin delicate cookies which is about 1/8 inches thick).
11. Cut out your selected shapes and transfer to parchment lined baking sheet, leaving at least 2 inches between each cookie.
12. Bake at 350° F (176° C) for 10 to 12 minutes (depending on your oven) or until edges look solid or are just about to start tuning very light golden brown.
13. Remove from oven and let rest on pan for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
14. When cookies have completely cooled. Toss them into a bowl of granulated sugar or frost with your favorite buttercream or royal icing.
15. Enjoy!
